As the name suggests, a hybrid athlete is a person who aims for strength AND endurance. It is a combination that requires an evolving, open-minded approach that allows you to develop your body. A hybrid athlete also has to think about adequate recovery, so we can add mobility and flexibility to the mix. 

You get the idea – a hybrid athlete is someone who trains and competes in multiple sports or activities that involve different physical abilities and demands.  Usually, a hybrid athlete feels most comfortable in settings like obstacle course races, because that allows them to utilize every aspect of their athleticism

Running

Long distances, with solid endurance and speed, should be a part of a hybrid athlete’s arsenal. Long-distance running can and will significantly affect endurance. 

To be able to endure long running distances, it is important to include long runs, intervals, and tempo runs in training

Lifting heavy

Now, since hybrid athletes are not runners only, strength training is a part of the routine. We are talking about a wide range of strength-building exercises that can serve the athlete to build raw power and explosiveness. 

A wide variety of exercises can help you develop your body, but remember to incorporate the classics, such as squats, deadlifts, bench presses, and overhead presses.

Bulletproofing (aka Injury prevention)

“How can I lift heavy and run far without injuring myself?” – you might ask.
